The first-ever Chief Executive born west of the Mississippi River, 31st U.S. President Herbert Hoover was also a member of the first-ever class at Stanford University. Returning to his Palo Alto-based alma mater on August 11, 1928, Hoover formally accepted the Republican Party nomination for the 1928 Presidential election. Encapsulated and assessed “Authentic” by PSA, this full ticket was issued for that notification ceremony at which a crowd of more than 75,000 came out in support of Hoover. One of three at its tier with none graded higher, the voucher features printed seating and event details and presents nicely with sharp edges/corners.
Accompanying is a 10-1/16 x 8” original black-and-white news service photo of the gathering at Stanford Stadium that day. The crisp photo shows evidence of newsroom handling and has the original caption sheet and “Associated Press” stampings on the reverse.
