As he honed his skills in the International League, Hall of Fame backstop Roy Campanella followed the path paved by Jackie Robinson, starring for the Montreal Royals before going on to big league stardom with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Encapsulated and assessed “Authentic” by PSA, this ticket stub was issued at Newark, New Jersey’s Ruppert Stadium for the August 1, 1947 contest between the Royals and host Bears. During that contest, Campanella launched one of his 13 home runs that season. The “Rain Check” voucher features printed details including a “Lady Grand Stand” identifier and the facsimile signature of Bears executive Parke Carroll. One of two at its tier with none graded higher, the souvenir showcases sharp edges/corners and presents nicer than the technical assessment suggests. Published newspaper clippings accompany.
