Carve yourself a tantalizing slice of Mickey Mantle memorabilia. Making one of his annual All-Star Game appearances in 1959, the magnificent Yankee immortal was gifted with the offered presentation cutlery sets which include a six piece knife set and a three piece carving set. The elegant green boxes are embossed with gold fleur-de-lis accents and identically personalized on the lids with “All-Star Game, Los Angeles, Aug. 3, 1959” on the left and “Mickey Mantle, American League” on the right. While the boxes show moderate wear and staining, all lettering remains clearly discernible. All nine pieces of stainless steel cutlery are marked “Italy” and display minimal signs of use. Accompanying these gift sets is a COA signed by three members of Mantle’s family with wife Merlyn and sons David and Danny. The COA’s text reads as follows, "The Mantle Family is thrilled to be sharing important artifacts from the Mickey Mantle Archives. The following lot was one of Mickey’s personal treasures and came directly from the Archive. It was presented at auction on December 8, 2003 at New York’s Madison Square Garden."
